Rather than post my config I thought it would be more valuable to summarizing the process to improvement as a basis for your research. ![]() ![]() With respect to Fusion, I think just a couple of changes in XP and Fusion made all the difference so this was a bit of trial and error. #NEMETSCHEK ALLPLAN CNET INSTALL#Subsequently installed a faster 7200rpm hard drive and did a clean install of OSX Not sure which tweak made the most difference but feel there were a few fundamental changes:Ĥ. MacBook Pro late 2007 (Santa Rosa), 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200RPM WD Black hard drive OSX: Pressing on button to full download/launch of an internet page in Safari <30 secondsįusion: "Pressing" on to full download/launch of an internet page in Explorer <90 seconds #NEMETSCHEK ALLPLAN CNET UPDATE#Last month I spent a full day trying to get vmware 2.0.6 and my Macbook Pro to run faster and wanted to update this post. Really frrreeking annoying and frustrating. Where do I go now? I refuse to pay another $25 for another incidental accident with a VMware tech support "guru" who says "upgrade your software". I'd rather run Bootcamp, which is a bit painful. I am NOT going to rebuild my macintosh to get this 1 software application to run. #NEMETSCHEK ALLPLAN CNET UPGRADE#Why should I have to upgrade to version 3 when version 2 never performed well on my new MacBook Pro Leopard machine with 4GB RAM? I allocated 1/2 of the memory, reinstalled the VMware tools several times as instructed. At least give us an option to select an engineer in the USA. The software costs about $80 and then we have to pay $25 per incident to get live support from some foreigner who cannot speak English well. It comes and goes and the only thing that fixes it is rebooting Windows. The support call did not resolve the problem. I am upset because I have wasted many hours of time trying different things and then paid more money. Why is it that the only people in this forum reporting good performance and "no problems" are VMware employees ? Is this a Technical Marketing Liars Forum or what? This software is crap and support is predatory. Question: any detailed advice to speed up Fusion 2.0.6 before I throw it off a cliff? Message to the VMware team: Guys - get your act together and have some pride in your work. Based on the postings of other current Fusion users, I am not alone. This is a terrible product that is not fit for release in current form.ĭespite the pain of switching to Parallels, I find it so frustrating to wait for Fusion to boot up that I am sure to abandon this software by Halloween. So frustrating to wait so long for XP to boot up. I purchased 4GB of memory, reinstalled the software, tools and tried to optimize Fusion, but the product is such a disappointment. The press was equally impressed with v1.x of VMware, despite some minor quirks.Īfter installing the relatively well-done Snow Leopard upgrade, I upgraded what appeared to be a well sorted SIXTH iteration of Fusion (v2.0.6). I purchased both Fusion and Parallels with my MacBook Pro and was so impressed with the speedy Fusion that I didn't even bother to try the Parallels. ![]()
